興福寺
こうふくじ【興福寺】
奈良市にある法相宗の大本山。 南都七大寺の一。 藤原鎌足の遺志に従い夫人鏡女王(カガミノオオキミ)が建てた山階(ヤマシナ)寺に始まり， のち飛鳥に移して厩坂(ウマヤサカ)寺と称し， さらに平城京遷都とともに現在地に移転し興福寺と改称。 藤原氏の氏寺として権勢をふるった。 僧徒は延暦寺の山法師に対して奈良法師としておそれられた。 鎌倉・室町時代， 大和国守護。 東金堂・五重塔などのほか多くの文化財を蔵する。
